Sacred Heart of Mary accepts our parish responsibility for providing religious education for all of our children. The Religious Education Ministry recognizes the parent as the Primary Educator of the children and seeks to assist the parents with religious education as mandated by the Church.
Religious Education experiences and instruction shall be provided to students with inclusion and communication with parents and families, while appreciating the uniqueness and individuality of the learning process. We see parental and family involvement to complement and strengthen the formal education and activities provided by the parish. |
If your children are in preschool or kindergarten, then you’re in the right place.
This year’s focus for the preschool children is God and Creation. We will be using the Who Am I? ignatius Press program.
It is a Catholic curriculum for children from three years old to kindergarten age. This program is centered on a new approach found in the writings and teachings of Pope John Paul II. It stresses the dignity of each individual as a person made in the image of God. Each lesson revolves around the fundamentals of our Faith: God, creation, Christ, Church, Grace, Sacraments, and Commandments, in terms that the children can understand and remember.

- Parents need to attend one class each semester as a minimum. Some classes are year long, some are one night over 8 weeks, another is a week, while others are one evening or one morning. It is difficult to pass on your faith when one’s foundation needs updating! Check out Adult Religious Education.
- Drop off and pick up – Please drop your student in their classroom 15 minutes before Mass. You may pick up your student in their classroom after Mass. Please be sure someone comes in to collect them as I will not allow students to go outside without a parent or guardian.
In order to keep the mouse population down,
all classrooms are a no snack zone |

We rely on the generosity of volunteer catechists to teach the classes. If you are interested in volunteering, please give Brenda Luksch a call.
